Welcome from the President
Dear fellow Tulanians,
When I joined the Tulane Club of Washington DC Board in 2013, I did not anticipate that in a short decade, I would have the privilege to volunteer in a national capacity with such an esteemed group as the Tulane Alumni Association (TAA). It is an honor to serve as your TAA president.
As a native Louisianan, Tulane University has always been a part of the fabric of my life. I have been pleased to learn, as an alumna, that Tulane remains part of that fabric, whether I am in Washington DC, where I have practiced medicine for the past 14 years, or even farther afield. There are Tulanians to consult in international business, who head governmental agencies, lead nations, serve hundreds of thousands. I am always happy (and a bit awed) when I think back on my days serving as a Newcomb Senator and representative to the ASB and subsequent USG and I see some of those very same people in their current careers here in Washington. It seems that things have come full circle, and the value of an education from Tulane University is ever increasing.
The TAA strives to create meaningful connections between and in support of alumni. It is my hope, as I meet even more alums in this year, to let you know what the university and the TAA are doing to serve you, from robust early, mid- and late career opportunities and global networking events supported by Alumni Career & Professional Development; to a wide range of lifetime learning opportunities presented by world-class faculty through the School of Professional Advancement and online courses of study; to the exploration of amazing destinations through the Alumni Travel Program, the TAA is here to support alumni in all facets of post-graduation life.
If you haven’t had the opportunity, please attend one (or many!) of your local and regional club and affinity events. With Welcome TU events in the late summer, fall service events and football game watches, Mardi Gras parties and springtime favorite crawfish boils, every season can be TU season right in your own backyard! You’ll be able to connect and reconnect with Tulanians in your town, or, if travels take you far from home, you are always welcome at any club events, so be sure to bookmark our website and follow (and tag) @TulaneAlumni and your local club on Facebook, LinkedIn, X, and Instagram.
I hope you share with me a deep appreciation for our academic community and the legacy of Tulane University leading the charge in international collaboration, research and innovation. We are a committed, vibrant network of nearly 180,000 strong, spanning over 190 countries around the world, with each bringing unique experiences and viewpoints that together deepen and enrich the value and reach of all our personal and professional connections. Together, we can lift and support each other to even higher accomplishments; we are better together. Non sibi; sed suis.
Roll Wave!
Yours sincerely,
Jennifer Mills, MD (NC’01 BS, BFA)
