GOLD Krewe Ambassador Spotlight: Alexa Authorlee (B '22)

Alexa Authorlee, a Houston native born and raised, proudly returned home after graduating from Tulane University. Today, Authorlee balances professional life with creative and personal passions—alongside her two cats.

“I spend my time doing home renovations, clay making, cooking, bartending (for myself), and discovering the pains of adulting,” Authorlee shares, “Things like property taxes and HOA dues are definitely part of the journey.”

Authorlee’s path to Tulane began with curiosity and connection. Although Louisiana was familiar from family visits, New Orleans was entirely new until she stepped onto Tulane’s campus.

“Visiting Tulane was my first time actually seeing the city,” Authorlee recalls. “After multiple campus visits filled with meeting people, I loved interacting with, I chose Tulane. The campus was beautiful and lively, and after guidance from some amazing admissions counselors, I decided to follow my heart.”

That decision left a lasting impact—so much so that Authorlee is still in touch with those admissions counselors eight years later. At Tulane, she majored in Finance with a minor in Legal Studies in Business, while immersing herself in leadership and community-building opportunities.

“My RSO experience really shaped who I am,” Authorlee says. “I held leadership roles in the Tulane Black Student Union and Undergraduate Student Government, and I founded both the Alliance of Black Business Students and the Black Queer Collective.”

Authorlee’s campus involvement extended even further through serving as a Resident Advisor, Admissions Diversity Fellow, and Center for Intercultural Life Ambassador. These leadership experiences became the foundation for her continued service as a GOLD Krewe Ambassador and the GOLD Krewe Board. She joined the Tulane Club of Houston immediately after graduating, finding a natural continuation of her student leadership work.

“One thing that remains the same across all forms of leadership is knowing who you serve,” Authorlee explains. “That mindset allows you to assess people’s needs and guide them in the best way possible.”

Professionally, Authorlee is now a Consultant with Accenture, specializing in Healthcare and Public Service, including nonprofit organizations, state governments, and K–12 systems.

“My Tulane network played a huge role in my transition,” Authorlee says. “The A.B. Freeman Career Counselors helped me find my full-time job, and alumni supported me even before I landed my current role—we still keep in touch today.”

Authorlee emphasizes that student leadership prepared her for the professional world in unexpected ways.

“Being a student leader prepares you for when your job asks something of you that almost seems impossible,” Authorlee notes. “At Tulane, much of our work was grassroots—we had ideas but had to build the framework ourselves. That skill translates directly to consulting.”

As a young alum, Authorlee continues to stay deeply engaged. She has organized volunteer events, spoken on prospective student panels, and participated in Tulane Hello Wave events for several years.

“For me, this journey has meant finding ways to pay it forward,” Authorlee reflects. “My time at Tulane was only possible because of the unwavering support from my parents, counselors, friends, and those who led before me.”

Those experiences left a lasting professional impact as well.

“Nothing I did at Tulane is forgotten,” Authorlee adds. “My extracurriculars helped me secure impactful internships, build character, find my career path, and even land my first project at Accenture just two months in.”

Looking ahead, Authorlee hopes to continue amplifying alumni voices and fostering connection within the Tulane community.

“I want to ensure more Tulanians are represented in local and national engagement,” Authorlee says. “And I’d love to see more people attend Tulane Club events—remember, anyone who completed at least one year at Tulane is an alum, and friends and family are almost always welcome!”

Authorlee’s message to fellow GOLD alumni is one of pride, encouragement, and belonging:

“To my fellow young alumni who are building careers, relocating, starting families, and learning more about themselves each day—I’m proud of all of us. No matter where you are in life, GOLD Krewe is for everyone. There’s no requirement to lead today, but there’s always an opportunity to find community.”
