Green Wave Football kicks off August 30

Now is the time to Roll Wave and practice your hearty “Helluva Hullabaloo” as Green Wave Football kicks off for the 2025-2026 season. Football season is a special time for the entire Tulane community, uniting alumni, fans, family and friends, and bringing Green Wave spirit to the gridiron — whether the game is played at Yulman Stadium or on the road.

The 2025 season kicks off with a Gameday Bar at Bea Field on Saturday, August 30, ahead of Tulane’s home opener against Northwestern. Whether you're catching the action on campus or following the team on the road, Tulane Alumni invites you to celebrate all season long at upcoming alumni tailgates — featuring food, drinks, music, giveaways and the chance to connect with fellow alumni before kickoff.

Green Wave Football Head Coach Jon Sumrall, who is widely credited as establishing a winning culture at Tulane, says, “I’m fired up to be at Tulane. I’m in love with the place; I’m in love with the city of New Orleans. We have an outstanding administration at our university — President Mike Fitts, Director David Harris.

“I could not be more grateful to them for the resources they provided our players, our staff to be successful at a high level.”

Green Wave Football is entering this year after a successful season in 2024, including competing in the 2024 AAC Championship Game and the Gasparilla Bowl.

“I’m really excited about this season … our team is drastically different than last year’s team. The uncertainty really energizes me,” says Sumrall.

The Green Wave will hit the road this year for a historic rivalry, travelling to Ole Miss for the September 20 game. Other notable home games include Duke on September 13 and a sure-to-be intense AAC re-match against Army on October 18. The fan-favorite Homecoming game will pit Tulane against the Florida Atlantic University Owls on November 15. A full lineup of the season can be found here.
