Jordan Goldberg takes on new role as chair of Tulane Fund Advisory Board
Jordan Goldberg (TC ’94) isn’t one for sitting on the sidelines. Though he had been recruited as a walk-on kicker for Green Wave Football, he quickly foresaw a career on the bench and within weeks decided to rush Zeta Beta Tau rather than yards on the gridiron. It was the right decision.
“The social, the academic, the city, it all combined to be the best four years of my life,” says Goldberg.
“It’s such a great place to say that you went to and that you are still a part of,” says Goldberg. “I feel like Tulane is always trying to better itself, it’s never complacent. The leadership is always looking for new ways to be a better school.” — Jordan Goldberg (TC ’94), chair, Tulane Fund Advisory Board.
Now chair of the Tulane Fund Advisory Board (TFAB), Goldberg’s passion for Tulane is undimmed. In addition to serving on the board since 2012, he has lectured in classes, hosted Hello Wave events and given back philanthropically. And he’s done it all while extending and expanding his family’s three-generation development, construction and managing firm Goldberg Companies as well as raising four children with his wife Jennifer Weisman Goldberg (NC ’95).
“It’s such a great place to say that you went to and that you are still a part of,” says Goldberg. “I feel like Tulane is always trying to better itself, it’s never complacent. The leadership is always looking for new ways to be a better school.”
He should know, not just as an alumnus, but as a parent of two Tulanians, Dylan Goldberg (B ’23) and sophomore Jackson Goldberg.
“The wonderful thing is that being active, I get to stay up to date on what’s happening on campus. It definitely made the school more appealing to my two children who attended. I’m a big advocate of the school as well, and I’m seeing that the TFAB is having a greater impact and has a better voice.”
He hopes to work toward amplifying diversity on the TFAB during his tenure as chair. “That just provides so much value, and we know how important it is for Tulane to be diverse. We should be representing that on the board as well.”
Goldberg credits past TFAB Chair Michael Hollingsworth (A&S ’92) for his guidance during the difficult years of the pandemic. “I want to be a good caretaker, and I’m just happy to be a part of it. I’ve enjoyed my time [on TFAB] and I would love to see the TFAB expand in terms of influence and in terms of fundraising. I hope that we can continue growing as a board.
“We need to make sure that TFAB members have such a worthwhile experience that they not only want to continue to participate, but they also want to recommend it to fellow alumni. Having great speakers and stimulating topics at each of our meetings is the best way to accomplish that.”
